Over thirty-five years of dedicated care for the local community

A dental practice was first established at 1 Nutter lane, in 1958. The name derives from the Nutter family and in particular the Nutter sisters; they lived just 100 yards from the practice at Applegarth, in the early part of the 20th century and as great local benefactors bequeathed the Nutter playing fields to the parish.

Wanstead Dental Practice…….. A brief history in time!

1979 …….. A winter of discontent, the accent of Margaret Thatcher, double digit inflation and interest rates!

Howard Pay and his wife Joan buy a rundown dental practice in Nutter lane and establish Wanstead Dental Practice. Howard qualified in 1975 and had always wanted to run his own practice.

“I got a book about dentistry out of the library when I was twelve years old, and I liked the sound of it. I had good experiences going to the dentist as a child. When I bought the practice I wanted to be able offer high quality care to my own patients.”

About us

In buying the practice Howard liked the idea of developing it to fit his own dental philosophy, with the freedom to invest and create the right environment to deliver the high quality care.

Over time the practice expanded to two treatment rooms, a hygienist surgery and preventive dental unit for children. A separate decontamination room for reprocessing and sterilizing instruments was also created.

Fast forward thirty five years and Howard and Joan are still providing high quality personalised dental care to the people of Wanstead and beyond.
